Fundraiser for displacement camps in Bukavu, South Kivu, in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

In 2023, Congo was the top country of origin of refugees settling in the state of Idaho. The reason and history of the displacement is deep and oftentimes painful, but it is important to acknowledge so we can develop our support and care for our Congolese brothers and and sisters. Human rights are universal, they only exist if everyone has them. None of us choose where or when we were born, but all deserve the chance to live, thrive, and love on the same planet we share

SPRING 2025 - MAY 24, 2025

Fundraiser for Agency for New Americans (ANA), a refugee resettlement agency, here in Boise, Idaho

Refugee admissions into the U.S. were halted in January 2025 by an executive order. People who were approved to resettle were abruptly turned away, sometimes even at the airport. ANA supports thousands of people every year who come to Idaho seeking refuge from war, economic distress, and other humanitarian crises. They’re the first ones to pick refugees up at the airport and they sustain that support through education, training, and resources for people’s journeys in autonomy in this new land, and self-determination for themselves and their families.
